The End Of The World Poem by Joe Fraccalvieri

The End Of The World

Today, the world came to an end...
Abruptly... Quickly
All the things I once knew
passed away with the morning dew...
Like melting snow upon a moving brook...
At the end of the trail... like the very last line
of a very good book...

Even history slipped into the past
now only a vague notion of a time
that was... Just a fading memory
of a world teeming with life
and the sound of commotion
when everything seemed to exist
at the same time
And now... even that was slipping away

It all ended like a piece of film which has snapped-
a balloon popped- a lion roared- I thought I heard
the sound of a hundred jet engines in the sky above
but it was the sound of the sky itself being torn apart

The world ended today...
Because she said she no longer loved me...
Abruptly... Quickly

The world came to an early end....
along with a broken heart
