This is quite an exceptional and very intense poem, Kandice, one which is so beautifully and expressively written it literally takes a reader's breath away. It is terse in wording, but vast in the emotions it unfolds before the reader. It is just the kind of poem that is a treat to read over and over until it becomes imprinted on one's mind. I liked your ending very much, but was wondering if that next to the last ine would sound better if it were phrased, 'solely ruled by' instead of 'half-ruled with' although both mean almost the same thing. Thank you for this remarkable poem. Carl.

The feminine in this poem speaks out loudly. Salazar, you have a knack of creating imagery.10
