Tap Into The Frontal Lobes Poem by Kimberly Burnham

Tap Into The Frontal Lobes

Rating: 5.0

Tap on your forehead
feel the vibration in your frontal lobe
the largest of the lobes
most common region for traumatic brain injury
controlling voluntary movement like the movement of the hand
writing, typing, in expressive language
the movement of the eyes as we read
and go in our mind on an adventure

Frontal lobes right and left
managing higher level executive functions
a collection of cognitive skills
planning, organising outlining our story
initiating, self-monitoring
multi-step tasks, repetitive actions like opening a notebook
and starting to write
control responses needed to achieve a goal
at the same time encouraging spontaneity
flexibility in thinking
imagining different responses as the protagonist
struggles to solve the problem
while controlling the impulse to quit or give up
the impulse to run away
behavior and emotional control center
paying attention and self motivating
home to our personality and mood
imagine the protagonist with frontal lobe trauma
how do they overcome the obstacles
how do they self-motivate and plan
