Step Dad Poem by Jon M. Nelson

Step Dad

Now that your mother has become my wife,
You will always be a big part of my life.
I know I could never take your dad's place,
But in your heart I hope you have a space.

I'll love you as if you were my own child,
Even the times you feel like running wild.
Our time together has given us a start,
And now you have a place in my heart.

With you and your mother we're a family,
And the love we share should be easy to see.
Don't think I'm taking your mother away,
Because you will be with us everyday.

And as I raise you like I would my own,
Know that you'll never have to be alone.
I'll be there to support you any way I can,
Today as a family our new life has began.
