One by One

Ouch!

Two by Two

So long.
Stay strong.

Three by Three

Don't you see
I can't be
like a tree?

Four by Four

I thought it wise
to hypnotize
those I despise
to give me fries.

Five by Five

My one greatest wish
would be when my wife
asks me for the time
I could say it's noon
and not six thirty.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM

I call these square poems because they have the same number of syllables per line as there are lines in the poem. For example, a four-line poem would have four syllables per line, and a five-line poem would have five syllables per line.

Square poems do not have to rhyme, but it's fun if you can do it. Shorter ones are easier to rhyme than longer ones.

Note: As of the 30th of November,2016 I have added 17 more square poems. To see my other square poems, just keep clicking on the 'next poem' button.

You were very clever to come up with this new form. You started out very simply with these short ones, but some of your longer ones are excellent! Congratulations and thanks! Oh, by the way, also a clever method to avoid that stupid robot lady monotone voice!

These are my original square poems, written 11 November 2014. They lasted until 29 November 2018, before Poem Hunter added those awful soundtracks. That's four years and 18 days. Not bad. As many of you know, I hate those soundtracks and deactivate any poem I find that has them. Then when/if I re-post them later, I put gibberish or cryptograms or foreign language in the poem area and the real poem in the poet's notes area in an attempt to avoid the soundtracks.
