Not yet has buds appeared on trees
nor crocus peering above the mound
though Spring has uncovered snowy defrost
revealing scrub grass and old crop stalks
Deciduous trees remain without foliage
outlined sharply against bright blue sky
while conifers appeared thicker, greener
refreshed from winter winds and snowfalls
Areas of landscape laying in deep shadow
remain covered with streaks of white snow
gradually melting, soon will disappear
revealing the full countryside in all its glory
Everywhere today, feels such expectancy,
warm air, bright sun, gentle breezes
waiting for that soon to be moment -
the moment when Spring has sprung
