Sonnet Xxii - Take Heed Dear Soul For Thou Art Growing Old Poem by Valerie Dohren

Sonnet Xxii - Take Heed Dear Soul For Thou Art Growing Old

Take heed dear soul for thou art growing old
The years have ventured past sweet youthfulness
And thus the time when all the flesh turns cold
Shall sooner come, thy life to full address
For each thy deeds within the mind are set
To think upon as darkness stealeth near
And should thy conscience bring a due regret
‘‘Tis now thy need'st pay court to those held dear
Thus, speak to all whose hearts you have downturned
For recompense is surely there to make
And look to those whom you have wrongly spurned
All those through life you thus chose to forsake
………… Speak now, before the sun falls past recall
………… speak now, and make amends to one and all
