Your vulnerable eyes see
Inspiration in false grins,
The screen's illusion is too bright
But you can't look away.
Temptation punctures your satisfied stomach,
25% off is too good to miss
And the model's altered body looks
So beautiful.
You'd never post a
Portrayal of your authentic self,
For your followers
Would be disappointed.
Nobody wants to see
A tinge of yellow tooth,
A bloodshot eye
Or a single pimple.
Your arms aren't big enough,
But your shameful waist isn't thin enough
So you purge yourself,
Dinner won't get any likes.
The stumble of your step
Falls on deaf ears,
The facade of your feed
Feeds the eyes of your needy disciples.
Your eyes get fuller
And your belly hungrier,
Is it a good thing to
See ribs through your skin?
Last year's edit
Took far more effort,
You're nearly perfect
(if it wasn't for the bags under
Your eyes or
Your tired mind or
Your desperation) .
