Sadness My Friend Poem by Avery du Toit

Sadness My Friend

Oh, sadness my old friend we meet again in yet another cold day

Oh, sadness my comfort you bring to an unknown world

Oh, sadness you're so bad but I keep running back my shelter

Oh, sadness bring me the knife so my throat is cut let me bleed

The crimson wine you drink is me

Me who cries in the night

Me who begs for internal sleep

Me who see a world of impossibility

Me who grave attention which I never had

Oh, sadness I am relieved the darkness covers me in light

Oh, sadness my only friends as my visions blur

Oh, sadness wipes the tears of my face

Oh, sadness covers me in your cold embrace

The cold yes, the cold

The cold of my hands

The cold of my feet

The cold in my warm heart

Oh, sadness what a Friend you are.
