Resilient
She looks up at the far beyond,
There lies a field and a little pond.
She is all alone today, she does not care,
All she wants to do is wait and stare.
A gentle wind blows through the willow trees,
It causes her dry weeds to sway in the breeze.
Then as she looks up some dark clouds appear,
It thrills and makes her shudder with fear.
A flash of light rips through the dark sky,
A rumble of thunder can be heard from on high.
The smell of rain hangs heavy in the air,
She is breathless with both hope and desire.
For she is anticipating the arrival of her rain lover,
She cannot wait to be fulfilled and recover.
For many months she has laid barren and dry,
Her lover has been blind and deaf to her cry.
His arrival is both forceful and thrilling,
She opens herself; she is ready and willing.
For she is Mother Earth who blossoms again,
She is rejuvenated and replenished by her lover the Rain.
