Rent

Rent, oh rent, the price we pay
For a roof over our heads each day
It's a burden, a constant strain
But without it, where would we remain?
We work hard, day in and day out
Just to make sure we don't go without
For the landlord demands his due
Or else he'll find someone new
We scrimp and save, we budget tight
But still, rent takes a sizable bite
We dream of a day when we'll own
A place we can truly call our own
But until then, we must abide
By the rules of this renting ride
We dare not upset the landlord's mood
Lest he raise the rent, oh what a feud
But amidst the stress and strain
There's a beauty to be found in this pain
For in our humble rented space
Memories are made, at our own pace
We laugh, we love, we cry, we fight
But in the end, we know it's alright
For this rented home, imperfect though it may be
Is a sanctuary for you and me
So here's to rent, a necessary chore
For it provides us with so much more
A roof over our heads, a place to grow
Rent, oh rent, we'll pay you, we know.
