Plane Of Attainment Poem by Denis Mair

Plane Of Attainment

Rating: 5.0

(trying to say something about literati aesthetics)

The intention to amplify a realm is brought to bear by an invisible arrangement of gimbals and gyroscopes...

but you are not a homunculus sitting in a crane operator's chair...

expansive intentions cannot not be formulated directly by the present user,

for they ride on swells of cranial sap...

if there is a trans-subjective force, only wave crests deliver its enkindling effects

whereupon there is a plane of attainment,

and it need not be achieved by any recognized skill...

it's what you attain by being human...

which is the backbone of any half-decent literati ethos,

because the amplitude of the sphere in which one exists...

depends on one's boldness of conception...

where the life-force is concerned, lessons of living well equal beauty.

Plane Of Attainment
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written as a delayed response to a copy editor who questioned my use of the term "plane of attainment, " claiming that attainment must be attainment AT something… But my sense of literati aesthetics now tells me that attainment has to do with the organization of impulses, for their own sake. So I don't believe that the AT is necessarily where it's at.} [Calligraphy by Wei Ligang.]

While I didn't understand it (you're too literate and deep for me) but the reference to 'invisible gimbals and gyroscopes, ' can only represent a complex toy and the user's intentions.

You use of a reductionist perspective, in regards your readers, implying they are complex and dynamic is inherently flawed.

I gave this poem 11 stars - because I'm pro-contraception and I enjoyed the nap.

Does the boldness of contraception in literati ethos stem from the fact that talking about that puts the girl to sleep?

Was 'plane of attainment' another typo? Maybe you meant to say 'plane old attainment' - which is what we get from Amazon.

Were you implying, by using trans-subjective force, that transexual individuals can use ‘the force'?

'swells of cranial sap' - was that a typo? Did you mean to say ‘carnal sap'?
