You believe we're all broken in one way or the other,
That life can bring us happiness no further.
Well you see, I wasn't broken before I met you,
I wasn't happy, yet I was wholesome all the way through.
You saw this part of me you thought you could improve,
So you impetuously decided to make a move.
You gestured me closer to take a look inside your mind
And, oh, all the wonderful things you let me find!
By letting me see you, you broke down my wall,
But not me, you see, I was still whole.
I admit I was scared you would hurt me in the end,
Still, it didn't matter, I just wanted to be your friend
And not just that, you wanted to be mine,
I thought it to be a wonderful sign.
We got caught in the talks of the Universe and fate,
When I realized we were just a dream, it was already too late.
Now can you see I was doing all right
Before you took me down denying me a fair fight?
Maybe you just wanted to make me like you,
Sarcastic and cynical and black and blue.
Do you realize you are my one way or the other,
And every time I think of that I shudder,
Can I ask you for one more late night walk?
Truth be told, I would like to make you talk;
I imagine myself reading this into your ear
Telling you my side of the story without any fear,
I see your face as I say this words,
I hear your voice like songs of early birds,
I play it all out in my mind every now and then,
I think of all the scenarios that would leave you broken.
But I guess the only one I could never believe
Is the one where you would just stand up and leave.
And this is why you will always hear me say:
Everything is good, everything is okay.
Well, you broke me in this, one way or the other,
I wish sometimes, maybe there was another.
