We hold the world
to be objectively valuable,
see human beings as
a part of this world
and not apart from it,
and affirm the unity of
subject and object

Cartesian subjectivism

modernity.
(In philosophy, the Cartesian Self, part of a thought experiment, is an individual's mind, separate from the body and the outside world, thinking about itself and its existence. It is distinguished from the Cartesian Other, anything other than the Cartesian self.
Subjectivism is a label used to denote the philosophical tenet that "our own mental activity is the only unquestionable fact of our experience." The success of this position is historically attributed to Descartes and his methodic doubt.)
