Night & Day

The night-so beautiful-is like an unlocked chest
With mysteries that hide in it
that seem more and never less.
You might see stars that sway and poke
with lights in starlight guise,
Or maybe in that treasure chest
are the hopes and aims you prize.
But the unlocked chest like night-
is a dark and wary soul.
There could be sharp corners
in that sphere
That never were foretold.
But daylight shows the soul of time
While night is daylight's fallow,
For the glitter is in daylight
While all nightime hides in shadow.
So one wonders what to make of it
Did God make too full His plate,
Is Daytime the real miracle
And Nightime His 'too late'?
But each is really God's own blessing
And so each is a godly gift,
For each is also wonderful
And so each is God's portrait.
