Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
...
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
...
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
...
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

The most important thing we've learned,
So far as children are concerned,
Is never, NEVER, NEVER let
Them near your television set -

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends

Writing a poem is not about bringing some words together to create some charming sentences. It's so much deeper than that. Writing poetry is a bridge that allows people to express their feelings and make others live every single word they read. Poetry is to educate people, to lead them away from hate to love, from violence to mercy and pity. Writing poetry is to help this community better understand life and live it more passionately. PoemHunter.com contains an enormous number of famous poems from all over the world, by both classical and modern poets. You can read as many as you want, and also submit your own poems to share your writings with all our poets, members, and visitors.
Sleep, sleep, my beloved,
without worry, without fear,
although my soul does not sleep,
although I do not rest.
Sleep, sleep, and in the night
may your whispers be softer
than a leaf of grass,
or the silken fleece of lambs.
May my flesh slumber in you,
my worry, my trembling.
In you, may my eyes close
and my heart sleep.

Here I am in the garden laughing
an old woman with heavy breasts
and a nicely mapped face
how did this happen
well that's who I wanted to be
at last a woman
in the old style sitting
stout thighs apart under

When I was seven, I was told
I had a strong imagination.
I saw things that weren't there—
things that didn't belong.
But not often.
When I was eight, I was told
I had a strong imagination.
I heard what others couldn't,
things I shouldn't have heard.

Living in the void, living in the gaps.
Dying in the void, dying in the gaps.

How to get violence out of your head
with three easy breathing techniques,
how to lower your heart rate
by practising these gun-safety habits.

Time marches on, through dusk and dawn.
Time marches on, through silence and song.
Time marches on, unmoved by pleasure and pain.

I normally write what's inside my brain.
On 31st January 2023. I was told I had autism and a mild learning disability. Excuse me. I have what now? You have autism with a mild learning disability. I'm nearly 34 & no one has picked up that I have autism. Right! That's funny. You're funny. Apparently they're serious.2023 was the first for many things. I needed 3 operations.1 to the mirena coil. Damn cervix. But hey the plus they found atypical endometrial hyperplasia (precancerous cells in the womb.) Other two. I had an infected kidney stone stuck in my uterus and it lead me with an AKI (acute kidney injury) & sepsis. Cool I'm good now. No precancerous cells or should I say no cancer. My kidneys are still pretty fucked from time to time. But hey. I wish half these of things happen to me. I wish I didn't know. But if I didn't would I still be here or would I know any different? Long story, short. I wouldn't be me if it hadn't happened.

In life, I've come to realize it's not really about where I'm from — not the town, not the city, not even the culture.
It's about what I'm from.
And what I'm from… is a different kind of story. A different kind of beginning.
It's not a place on the map — it's a place in the soul.

On the streets, hear our American voices rise and declare
While we gather, steadfast, free and brave.
With signs held high, we chant and sing,
'No throne, no crown, no tyrant king! '

Khulna, my city of heart and soul,
A golden ring in dream's control,
By rivers winding, calm and wide,
Memories bloom on every side.

My Friend,
Musical string,
Plays melodious tune,
Full of life and ready to help,

I dwell
In the absence
You left behind

If you die before me
I would jump down into your grave
and hug you so innocently
that angels will become jealous.

Who offer what is real-themselves

I am tempted to answer
They are offering me a free dwelling
Without having to conquer
