Mothering Poem by ed purchla

Mothering

Scrolling, participating in the lunch break conversation,
gaining the attention of a few coworkers while reading
aloud, 'booming industry of billionaires buying opulent bunkers.'

Reactions from the kindling, an addition to the end of the
world discussion that had been in motion.

Without looking up from her phone, she offers up, 'I bought one a couple months before I had my daughter. Did the course, a couple hours of training, and got approved. It sits at home with two bullets: one for her and one for me.'
