Life For Life

Screams of terror rise into the air,
moans of pain soar on the wind,
sirens sing through the night.

Water douses fire,
fire lessens life,
death numbs pain.

Their life slowly ebbs,
her pain slowly recedes,
his worries slowly ease.

Take one life
to save another.
