Knowing God Poem by Thabile Nhlapo

Knowing God

Rating: 4.5

For the first time I listened to your word
Every line waving at me like a light house
Trying to direct my SOUL to the path of LIFE.
I turned from you and focused on acts of the flesh
Sources of thrill and irresponsible behaviour...
Only remembering your existence when friends who led me to this destructive path failed to satisfy this deep calling to the deep sanctioning power,
its greatness I can't explain-
As it called out to my spirit…
Father I Need You

I need you to take off the claws of the dungeons of hell
I can feel the chains of captivity having a firmer grip on my SOUL
The deeper I get into my ‘acts'.
These actions make me prisoner to failure
When You... my creator made it clear that I am more than a conqueror.

I am begging: "Peace and Sleep reject me no longer"
Tears of pain and torment flow out of me not no more
The storms of life caught me when I was fine
But the magnet of pleasure pulled me away from you
But now my SOUL is calling for its captain
YOU are my anchor-you hold me
Please accept me back
I now understand the great Love you have for me
You chose me first-and made plans to prosper me even when I derailed from them.
I want to know you
I want to serve you-
I want to see you in Paradise when the trumpet is blown

The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Lovely piece of poetry depicting spirit of repentance earnestly seeking the face of our Lord in total submission to His Will, also acknowledging The Omnipresence Omnipotence Omniscience nature of The Almighty. A well articulated poem nicely penned in poetic diction with spiritual insight. Thanks for sharing Thabile. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
