Keep Going

The biggest lesson for me this year
Was when I looked at myself in a mirror,
No more was i going to let anyone defeat me
With an insult or even with a knee.
When I saw those who hurt me crowing,
I decided to keep on going.

When friends needed help I was there
When they needed money I gave it without despair,
But, when it was I needing and asking
They were all off somewhere else in the sun basking.
There true selfs they were showing,
So, I just kept going.

When I walked alone on that rocky road
My true self to the world I showed,
While others complained and started balking
I continued walking.
I decided I would not be quitting or slowing,
So, I just kept going.

When she told me that she could do much better
I decided then and there to let her,
I decided that I would happily move on
Never would I again be her or anyone else's pawn.
And when the wind began blowing,
With a smile, I just kept going.

I have been used and I have also been played
But, unto God for them I had prayed,
And while they all sat back to seek revenge
It was I who had decided I would avenge.
When the punches were throwing,
I answered back and I kept going.

I kept going when I had only a dime
I kept going when I had only a rhyme,
And when my feet were calloused and my stomach growling
No man could hear me howling.
I then knew that I was spiritual growing,
So, I now alwayslook forward, and I just keepgoing.
