Jesus And The Fishers Of Men Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Jesus And The Fishers Of Men

Jesus preached on the shore of Lake Galilee
People pressed in upon him to hear his words.
Seeing two boats he stepped into one
Telling of God's eternal love and Heaven.
Boats belonged to fishermen, fishing all night
Without catching fish and were mending nets.
Jesus spoke to the fishermen's leader, Simon, saying,
"Take the boat a little way out and cast your nets"
When the nets were hauled in they bulged with fish.
Jesus then said, "You shall be fishers of men."
The fishermen became disciples, many martyred.
After Jesus was crucified between two thieves
They took his teachings out into the world
Keeping faith, saving souls, spreading God's love.
