I Love To Reach Back

I love to reach back and grab a memory
And let it linger a while
A memory of fun and laughter
A remembrance of that smile
The days when your spirit's were up
You were enjoying life to the max
And as well I could honestly say
You were in the mode to relax

Praise God for those great memories
I treasure them more each day
So thankful that I had a part in them
When life was going your way
When those other days came along
And tried to bring you down
They never succeeded in breaking your spirit
Your tenacity was renowned

We held a special bond my son
As I knew most of your circumstances
And how you longed for family
And gave others multiple chances
Praise God your heart was geared to love
And in love you gave your all
Until suddenly you were robbed of giving
God knows of your final fall

So while we'll miss your presence here
There's a meeting that's far grander
When we'll meet again in Heaven
Twill be of much more splendor
No weeping or wailing or gnashing of teeth
But a song from a soul set free
And soaring with Christ in the Heavenlies
What a day glorious day that will be!
