I Don't Belong Here Poem by Lyric Heyes

I Don't Belong Here

I don't belong here
at this family reunion of friends
where no one is strange
and everyone's sane
and friendship will never end

I don't belong here
at this family reunion of friends
where I am strange
and I am insane
and I shall fall again

I don't belong here
at this family reunion of friends
where everyone's warm and kind and soft
and nobody's a mess

I don't belong here
at this family reunion of friends
where I am hard, cold-hearted and mean
and I am seen as less

I don't belong here
at this family reunion of friends
where bodies lay still and silent and dead

I do belong here
at this family reunion of friends
where I hold a knife
Hey, isn't it nice?
at this family reunion of friends
