He Took The Guilt Poem by Gary James Smith

He Took The Guilt

He Took The Guilt

He took the guilt of all my sin
And bore its penalty
To bring me a full release thereof
That day at Calvary
I could barely believe the truth
Praise God my sins were gone
His Holy Spirit my Comforter
To carry me all day long

A new born joy stirred up inside
A song within my heart
I was now reconciled to God
Who never would depart
His Word became my blessed assurance
My faith foundation sure
I put my trust in Jesus Christ
Who became my Deliverer

Who could love us like the Son
When we deserved God's wrath
Until we read the Word of God
Find out we're on the wrong path
That our nature needs a change
That only God can provide
Except a man be born again
In Heaven he'll not abide

Guilt will take you on a ride
That you wish you never took
Keep you longer there as well
So take an inward look
If you want a lasting relief
You will find it in the Son
For whomsoever shall call upon Him
Will be safe within His arms

I'm so glad I called upon Him
My faith had found a Friend
Who forgave me of all my sin
And brought me hope again
Myheart can shout out...Hallelujah!
With full blown sincerity
Praise God for sure the Comforter has come
And lives inside of me!

You know sometimes you cannot express
Just what you feel within
It cries out to our Heavenly Father
Where truly praise begins
To be secure in a Father's love
Who could ask for anything more
I love You Lord...I praise You Lord
And You know it's You I adore!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
