Guardian Angel

Touch me gently in my sorrow
Never move my heart to tears
Lift my soul and hold it gently
Keep it close to ease my fears.

Love has left, now bleak and lonely
Are my days of sad lament
Come to me with dreams of comfort
You, I deem, are heaven-sent.

Stay beside me, I will cherish
All the care you give to me
To my life you bring sweet music
Joy divine and harmony.

Be here in my soul forever
You, the captor of my heart
Keep it safe, there bide forever
So that we may never part.

Love has left, but you are here now
Here to keep a vigil long
Guardian angel spread your wings, and
Sing to me your mystic song.

See, oh see now, how the world moves
No more fixed in slow decline
How I wonder at your dawning
And rejoice that you are mine.
