Graves And Tombs Poem by Parameswaran Nair Damodaran Nair

Graves And Tombs

Rating: 5.0

When the sun sets
and the stars bloom
And the earth is asleep
under the blanket of darkness
On the wings of the glow fly
I rise to the vast sky
And see the sleeping Taj Mahal,
The Mummies of Egypt
And the graves along the border
Where sleeps unknown warriors
Without a tomb stone
And without a lighted candle

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Famous tombs are built for kings and queens but for the soldiers who died for them no such architectural marvels are erected, not even a neat tomb is made.

May this wonderful and touching poem be a wake up call to all especially those who are called to govern the affairs of government. Soldiers must be given utmost respect and protection for their services and sacrifices for the country and its people. A meaningful poem.

And see the sleeping Taj Mahal, The Mummies of Egypt And the graves along the border Where sleeps unknown warriors Without a tomb stone And without a lighted candle- - -A deeply touching poem about the brave soldiers who sacrifice their lives guarding the border. While monuments are built for kings, the names of the true warriors lie in oblivion, unsung.

On the wings of the glow fly I rise to the vast sky And see the sleeping Taj Mahal, The Mummies of Egypt And the graves along the border. there are millions who live and die for a greater and noble cause. they are forgotten. this is the way of the world. reminding us of our callousness. tony
