Global Warming

Covering the damage to our land,
The first snow of the season is a fact
Exemplary of Mother Nature's act,
A mighty stroke of her almighty wand.
The degradation of soil, sea and air -
Denial at the root of mankind's greed -
Is great a burden all must bear, indeed,
And so I'm left contending with despair.
My fantasy is this, a forlorn hope
That by an ecological event
The world will right itself - an incident,
A great correction of majestic scope.
But to humankind there is a single season,
A time to waken and resort to reason.
