For Nelson Mandela Poem by Richard Wlodarski

For Nelson Mandela

Rating: 4.3

In Robben Island
Prison of such death
No bed to sleep on
Not even plumbing
They robbed you of life
Such damn racist pigs
And you were the lamb
Sacrificial one
Soon to be lone wolf
Howling for freedom

Freedom was finally won
For you and South Africa
Short lived freedom for you
On this mortal coil
Heaven welcomed Saint

And he did, Richard. One of the greatest souls ever lived on earth. Sacrificed his lived, spent decades in the prison… among the greatest men… Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa.. Very rare is this species.
