You died,
But you live in my heart,
And in the hearts of others.
We all recall your warmth, your sincerity, your passion,
As you taught young minds
In those long-gone days.
It seems it was just yesterday!
But time, the travelling clock,
That brings sorrow, wisdom or doom,
Speaks to us all,
In our separate corners of this world.
Time decrees that we must sleep the sleep,
That gives our souls the needed rest.
It is an order, a command,
That we humans must obey!
It is a ringing bell,
That sounds loudly far and near!
It is a call to sleep,
And we all must sleep that sleep!
My teacher, as I recall,
You started me upon that long road,
From darkness into enlightenment.
I salute you for your contribution to humanity!
Sleep well! As you must now sleep!
And wake beyond,
In the celestial world,
Of the Angels and the gods.
Sleep well, my teacher!
