Footsteps
Each footstep i take leads me somewhere
pity is when i arrive i am just as dumbfounded as i was before i stepped out
every footstep taking me to the same place
to face the same questions without answers
Or rather to face the same answers without questions
reinforcing the notion that things change to remain the same
that my end is other people's beginning
my beginning, though, may not be their end
This realisation has made me find peace in familiarity
being thankful for what i have accomplished
and careful of the footsteps i take
and having taken footsteps,
to desist from retracing my footsteps
fearful that my shadow may not be in step with me
instead preferring to create its own footsteps
footsteps away from me.
footsteps in the wind
footsteps next to my feet
footsteps around me
footsteps in the sky
Footsteps to
footsteps from
but, never footsteps in my shoes
