Nice poem. How the rich boy knew that his farm friend is actually very rich and not him.

Farmer 10 poem on Perception is a, poem for all as to how we have misconceptions about ourselves. The rich boy on his visit to the village realises, that the poor farmers are much more blessed than him. Very well written by the poet Dr. Geeta Radhskrishnan

! – " Dad, what a pity! We buy our food from the super market" i use supermarket here. Thanks for the Poet's Notes; perhaps you know and could/should name the story & author? I like what i've already read and am glad you shared, rightfully, the credit. What structure is in photo? BUT, will the boy join the village? Will " father" follow him. Will the villagers kill both and eat them? (cont.)

Hi, Geeta! I read this and thought how this resembled the teaching stories of Sufis. The main lesson I take from this is wealth and security there is in community. And, of course, you know I’m partial to all that natures provides. -Glen

Yes Glen, we should be close to nature to perceive the best. Thanks a lot.

This is the perfect story of our perception: how we see the things around us. The very nature of humans what they have are never satisfied with it, Humans are restless, the grass is always green on the other side of the field, the other line moves faster than we are standing in etc etc.... It is how we see, analyse and consider the things around us. A wonderful poem.10+++

Thank you so much Asim ji. So right! We always think that the grass is greener on the other side of the field.

Though I have heard this story before with slight variation, you have presented it afresh and with beauty! I always envy those people who live in close proximity with Nature! I too had such a time! Happiness is a matter of perspective is the great truth this story tries to re affirm! A 10

Hi Geeta, This famous story has been resold by you in quite captivating manner. The case for living with nature, nurturing every element of nature, has been built step by step in such a manner that, one is is tempted to believe that it is the only natural course, obvious choice. I am carried away by this line: “they have the whole horizon before them to start a day afresh with hope dancing in their eyes.” Wonderful!

Part - 2 I want to juxtapose the last stanza here for the readers of this comment. Finally, the boy looking at his father said: I have learnt in this trip that how rich my farm friend is, with the entire nature around him - so free and happy! / And I realise, how poor we are! Thanks for sharing with full vote.

Part - 1 A great discrimination on poor and rich, town and village, town pet dogs and village stray dogs, imported artificial lanterns and sky lit with thousand stars. bottled and tinned food and fresh vegetables and fruits has been astutely and touchingly painted by you dear Dr. Geeta madam through a nice story in prose format. The last stanza is much impressive and it reavels the main essence of the poem.

The poem deserves full marks, Geeta ji. It is so close to reality. The difference in the life style of urban rich and a poor farmer living in a village is so striking. Artificial v/s Natural. The poem reflects the observations of a discerning observer of the ground realities and also holds a great message in its narrative. Thanks, Dear Geeta ji, for sharing the same. You are a genius.
