A man unappreciated, becomes a thing,
A version he can give, yet still survive,
But you will not enjoy what it will bring,
A silent, sharp, frustrated man alive.
His words will cut, his thoughts will not be shared,
Non-communicative, closed off from view,
A mask he wears to keep his soul repaired,
A self-protective shield he dons anew.
For he must be a man he does not want,
A shell of who he truly is inside,
He longs for love, for praise, for just a jaunt,
But cannot show it, cannot let it slide.
So if you see a man who seems aloof,
Remember that he may just be in pain,
Offer him your hand, your heart, your proof,
That he is valued, and he'll live again.
