Dance With My Father Again Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Dance With My Father Again

The music starts to play,
As I close my eyes and sway,
Memories flooding my brain,
As I dance with my father again.
The melody hauntingly sad,
Bringing back moments we had,
His gentle hand on mine,
Guiding me through each line.
But now he's gone,
Left me all alone,
To dance with the ghosts,
Of what we used to call home.
The room is filled with silence,
Tears fall without defiance,
As I spin in circles,
With my heart in pieces.
My father was my rock,
Now I'm left to walk,
On this path of grief,
Dancing alone with no relief.
But in this moment,
I feel his presence,
Guiding me with each step,
As I dance with my father again.
The dirge plays on,
As I mourn what's gone,
But in this dance,
I find a sense of trance.
For a brief moment,
I forget my lament,
And I'm lost in the memories,
Of dancing with my father endlessly.
But as the music fades,
And reality invades,
I hold on to this dance,
With my father, my last chance.
For in this somber tune,
I find solace in the gloom,
As I dance with my father once more,
Till we meet again on the other shore.
