Crisis Pantomime

Angel Tutankhamun
Bad business
Instagram stories show sudden interest in cooking and platitude shared memes

Fake panic dinner theatre
Judas in a g string
The elevator doesn't go all they way to the top

The apocalypse has free wireless
We are the refugees from indifference
Don't stand so close to me

Continuing what doesn't work
Let's take turns knocking each other down
Outside, they use life saving machines as leverage

If I plotted a curve on where you stood yesterday
How you held my hand in the park and took turn throwing a rubber bone for the eager tongue out dog
Now we mechanically walk around the yard as exercise and as therapy

Let's pretend a lot has changed when in fact so far not much has
Cinematic transposing on a less dramatic reality
Not taken so hard because mind no longer stimulated by contact with other humans
You've been alone longer than you realize
