A great poem. Steve Waugh did a wonderful documentary in India. It was joy seeing all of the children, girls and boys batting. I would like to go to a test, just for the amazing atmosphere.

I've never seen a cricket game, but have seen fans behaving badly after a loss in soccer. It's a disgrace when that happens. A good poem on this subject.

Haha, nothing so pleased a cricket mad nation than their team does well, how we love our conquering hero's then! ! !

As another footnote, India is touring NZ again this summer. I'm looking forward to that.

It would be interesting to watch. The game has started moving into fast lane in the wake of ODIs and T20.

I fully agree with what you have said. We must have a positive outlook. In any competitive game, no team can take wins for granted all the time. Fans should also behave gentlemanly.

I am looking forward to this year's World cup in England. India must be one of the favorites. Kohli is an exceptional batsman and captain, from what I saw in the tests against New Zealand this year.

Yes, they have been doing fairly well under Kohli. It will be interesting to see them perform in the World Cup matches.

India have just defeated NZ quite easily in a one-day series. India's captain is a very fine batsman and tactician. I was impressed by the left-handed opener, Dahwan, who is so stylish. The other opener made many runs also. India's spinners were too much for NZ. There were no villains in this series.

You have nicely captured the action between India-NZ cricket teams which was highly in favour of India. This time Indian team was quite balanced in batting, bowling and fielding. Their Australia tour was even more successful this time over. Thanks, Michael.

Great poem Rajinsh. I'm a huge fan of the Indian national team..Kapil Dev, Gavaskar...Tendulkar...so many memorable players. Unfortunately, I haven't watched cricket for many years now as it's not accessible on U.K T.V unless one is willing to purchase SKY...which I am not! ! !

More than any other game we Indians are more inclined to put our time and money in cricket than any other game. We are rather cricket fanatics. A defeat can reveal that attribute blatantly. Thanks for sharing your views about Indian cricket and cricketers.

Thanks for your positive feedback with a very sensible suggestion to promote games other than cricket. I will surely read your poem.

Just after making that comment, I thought about how such a behaviour is common in peoples' personal life too. We always praise our children, for example, when they get good marks in the exam and criticise, almost vilify them when the opposite happens. Maybe it is just a human trait, and much like many others a sad one. Thanks for sharing Mr Manga.

Yes, this is not a freak. Our conduct in a particular situation will depend, among other things, on our anticipation or level of expectation coupled with provocative thrust it provides in a society or on a larger scale. Thanks a lot, Dear Friend.

It is the ultimate truth about fans - a word, I believe have some connections with fanaticism. We are always too willing to jump the bandwagon, whether providing too much adulation or simply becoming detractors. There's nothing in between them. A perfect poem on this subject Mr Manga.

You have said it. These fans are driven more by impulse than by reason. Fanaticism' is the perfect word which explains their behaviour in both the situations- winning a crucial match or losing it. Thanks, Dear Soul, for probing this issue in the right perspective.

Your poem places cricket in perspective. Unfortunately, recent events by the three banned Australians have horrified cricket lovers. The game will survive.

You have wonderfully captured the frenzy of the fans. Reality of Indian cricket fans. Sometimes they forget, losing or winning is part of a game.

Very effective repetition of 'Till yesterday' to get the reader's interest. Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar were like batting demi-gods to me, for different reasons. Sehwag was so aggressive in method like a one-day player in tests. Kapil Dev was a -like allrounder. Unfortunately there have also been villains in match-fixing and betting. India is not at all the only country to be involved in this.

Sports and sportsmen spirit bring so much joy in our lives. Millions of fans all over the world follow the games and their idols and contribute in their own way to the well being of the fellow citizens and to world peace. Thank you so much, Dear Michael.

This is a very common reaction. I have seen it in other games such as football also, sometimes fans cannot swallow a defeat and can go to any extent. Thank you so much, Sir.
