Christmas Without You Poem by Collette Y Anderson Williams

Christmas Without You

As moonlight fell upon that faithful day,
your heart subtly stole mine;
and the beautiful whirlwind
gave birth to my present fate.
And now I cradle
this Christmas without you.

Fixed on robbing the longing of my heart,
I shied away from your gentle piercing eyes
and your soul-melting smile.
Still, like a thief in the shadows,
you captured my lonely heart,
but only to have me face
this Christmas without you.

Oh, sweet, cruel heart!
If only I could understand why...
why did you tempt me to dream -
to dream of you and me -
to dream of us -
together! ?
Now, it's Christmas without you...

This aching is too surreal
and sometimes I struggle to exhale.
Yet, here I am,
'my pure diamond in the rough',
and I'm playing it tough,
though letting you go,
gives my heart such an incredible, terrible rush.
But I must endure.
Yes! I dare to embrace
this Christmas without you...
