It was just for a short moment,
an exquisite moment to behold.
A fully grown male cardinal
landed atop the hooped pool railing
his feathers a radiant orange.
Moments later, his mate joined him,
she, of much less adorned color,
landed onto adjoining hooped rail.
They sat together momentarily,
their beautiful winged bodies afront,
suddenly turning to each other and kissed.
Their beaks touched for a few seconds,
parted, turned again to face front wise.
Both gave a chirp, flapped their wings
and each cardinal flew up and aloft
going their separate way.
