Building A Snowman

There was once a winter day,
when all the schools closed down.
I did not have work that day;
no need to go to town.

Neighbor's kids were all outside,
not doing very much.
I went o'er to talk to them
with mittens in my clutch.

'Today is a perfect day
to build a snowman tall,
so let us all get busy,
come on you, one and all.'

They didn't have a clue one,
how they would meet that goal.
I had to explain to them
how to a snowball roll.

So, mightily did we toil
outside in sunny cold.
When we were all done with it,
we had our snowman bold.

He was seven plus feet tall,
with eyes of buttons bright;
standing there with hat and scarf,
he really was a sight!
