Blue-Eyed Horses Poem by M. A Heathcote

Blue-Eyed Horses

Blue-eyed horses
Hold a piece of heaven in them.
It has a spiritual domain over others.
It aligns itself with the lightning.
And considers itself wise beyond its years.
Wise beyond its golden coat
That has travelled this land for a millennium.

The blue-eyed horse
Has ridden to the ocean and leapt over a rainbow.
It has passed through the valleys of the mountains.
And slept with the gods that wept
And the gods that don't.
It has an audience with the wind.
And has a map of the sky in its mind.

With a swish of its tail, the meadow dances.
The eagle soars, and the wolves cower.
And the forest that looks
Fenced off and full of ancient aesthetics
Opens like a horseshoe to pastures lush and green.
Where a river winds, reflecting a world
Always new, always dreaming heavenly blue.
