Bitter Sweet Poem by Elizabeth Morse

Bitter Sweet

Watching, waiting, she moves past me,
I am struck by a wave that does strangle,
Feeling a desire, so intense, so evil,
Impure, decisive addiction I cannot heal
Her tears are my ecstasy,
Her smiles are my sun,
So much as a glance,
I know,
And I know my heart is won

Like thorns from a rose bush,
They do entangle me,
Piercing,
Killing me sweetly
I lust, I pine for a possession,
One I do not own,
I kiss the thoughts so sweet,
So Bitter,
An encaging, enrapturing dome

I seek release,
Day after night,
Seeking a way out from this,
Evil, desirable passion
Another glance, a chocking breath,
I throw the key to my release away,
I follow her, breathe in the evil,
So that I may look at her another day

Forgive me father, for I have sinned,
I desire for one I should not,
Let me be punished, let me be hanged,
Bind my hands and tighten the knot
For now my life is but an empty case,
Seconds without her I cease,
I hear no life, feel no emotion,
Only my feelings do increase

Release me from this hell I live in,
This burning, wanting heat,
Release from this emotion,
An emotion so bitter sweet
