Bill Withers' Grandma, Lula, be
Taking young Bill to church a lot.
And Bill did love it lots when she
Would be singing a hymn which brought
Her to clapping her hands in joy.
Bill remembered those same hands would
Protect and nurture this young boy,
And teach him about being good.
So when musician Bill became,
An early hit song was about
The hands of Bill's Grandma with aim
To thank her helping hands no doubt.
Bill in heaven with Grandma stands,
And both of them are clapping hands.
