Banana. Poem by Anthony Fry

Banana.

From the Musa-Acuminate crossed,
with the Musa-Baalbisiana combined,
Oh! ripe firm pulp so creamy smooth.

In upside-down bunches harvest reaped,
from grown healthy root-stocks propagated,
remembered taste is succulent sweetness.

Yellow fruit from Jamaica Eden-ism,
a Banana split with rum or maraschino,
sucrose, glucose, fructose inside locked.

Those waving palm fronds wonderful,
behold the herb soft fruit perennial,
a unique everyday Caribbean dream.
