The ancient lores of gods and myths,
There lived a maiden fair and swift,
Artemis, the archer bold,
Her argent bow; heart of gold.
In jungles deep didst savage creatures grow,
Born 'neath Luna's entrancing glow.
Progeny of potent sky-father, she came,
To assert her patrimony; her name.
Moved with poise through darkened glades,
Her cackling rang in the cascades,
An arc diadem bedecked her brow,
She pledged to guard all creatures now.
Surveyed the forests, her arrow true,
A hero for creatures she knew.
No mortal dared challenge her speed,
How she darted with lethal heed,
A vicious champion, wild and free,
Artemis, she was goddess of arboreal sea
In moon-glazed dusks, her hunters danced,
Under the stars, their spectres entranced,
She showed them through the stygian night,
Steering with her ethereal light.
But love's caress she could not bear,
Her heart remained in forests' lair,
The nymphs and creatures; loyal kin,
Her care for them, always within.
Artemis, moon's dearest child,
Her bequest still feral and wild,
Called her they the goddess bright,
Artemis, the protector of the night,
With silver bow; heart of gold,
Her legend resounds, ageless and bold.
