Always A Bridesmaid

Always a bridesmaid, never a bride,
never one for the taking.
How many weddings had she been in?
Oh how her heart was breaking.

In and out of love affairs, never just one guy.
She’d never had a steady.
How many men had seen her home?
But she was never ready.

She had her choices many times.
But commitment she did fear.
For what would happen if it didn’t work out?
She knew she’d always hear.

“Always a bridesmaid, never a bride”’
words from which she’d cried.
