He walks among the stars
A star in his own right
His spirit is restless
Adjusting to new home
He is a leader
Among great leaders
Somewhat terrified
Until Soul's welcome
Soul ever-so-gently
Tells him his life's purpose
On Earth's journey is done
Now adventure awaits
She informs that the Great Leaders
His Spirit Guides will assist him
Every step along The Road
Until his Mission is complete
Soul begins singing
One of his great songs
He begins to sob
As She says: COURAGE
She then takes him to Fiddler's Green
Tiny Charlie's heart full of joy
Uncle Gordie hugging kissing
Fiddlers playing dancers dancing
Soul softly kissing him on the cheek
Reassuring him Charlie is fine
Takes him by the hand to Paradise
Whispering that it's his time to guide

Gord Downie, one of Canada's beloved musical icons, died on Tuesday October 17,2017. Tributes to him proliferated the air waves, newspapers, social media and television. And even in parliament, a tearful Justin Trudeau had a few words to say about his friend Gord. Then there was a respectful moment of silence. Parliament was considering a state funeral for him.
A very good poem - I am able to see the images of the day he experienced the smudging ceremony.
THX so very much, Carl. Very happy that my poem helped you to vividly see that highly spiritual ceremony.
What a great tribute! I have never heard his music but I am sure he must be a legend. With this tribute you have immortalised him. Legends don't die anyway though.
Nosheen, I'm happy that you took the time to read and comment on my tribute poem. And, as always, your comments are always very meaningful. THX so very much.
A friendly tribute to a great pop singer of Canada is wonderful read! Thanks for sharing it with us
Thanks for sharing. I'll stretch my rating to 4 stars. : ) bri

I cant believe I never commented on this one! As a Canadian the Tragically Hip are the quite essential Canadian band, Gord was the poet who kept that band together. Fantastic tribute Richard, fitting for a legend!
2) cont'd: This special tribute had become even more meaningful after the addition of Fiddler's Green. That inspiration had come from two of my friends who were huge Hip fans. That was their favourite song.
With over 4500 poems to my credit, you're bound to miss a couple. So very grateful to you, my friend for all of your wonderful comments throughout the years!
