A Parent's Love Poem by Emilou Shumake

A Parent's Love

Rating: 5.0

Remember,
As long as you have breath
As long as you believe
A parent does not leave a child
So remenber as you grieve

All those special talks
That touch upon your cheek
The joy that showed upon her face
The love no words could speak

Though you cannot see
You kniow her presence well
Close your eyes and feel the love
She's with you, can't you tell

A parent's love transcends
It never goes away
You feel that touch just on your hair
She's with you night and day

Just stop and take a moment
Listen with your heart
She's has been there all along
You never were apart

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
We lost our mother four years ago. My sister was at the bottom of Texas. She drove for all night and day but arrived too late to say goodbye. That has been so hard on her. I wrote her this poem.

I am that sister. It's been very very hard should never have left her. I truly regret not being able to tell her goodbye. Weighs on my soul so deeply
