A Lapse Of Memory

In the early hours of this morning,
as I lay sleeping in my bed.
I experienced a most peculiar sensation
coming from the inside of my head.

At first I thought I was dreaming,
but then realised that I was awake.
Suddenly I broke out in the coldest of sweats
because I knew I had made a huge mistake.

I could not for the life of me remember
how and when I made such a mistake?
Had I possibly filled forms out in error?
Did I forget someone's birth date?

I tried to recall all my recent occurrences,
first by the hour and then by the day.
There I lay trying to rack my brain and memory,
then I realised my wedding was only hours away.
