- and by the third daughter-in-law
A funny story about Mom,
She was really having much fun
When we took her to the banquet rally
For May and Albert's wedding party.
Albert is of course cousin Henry's son.
In Hong Kong in December 2012, we happened to be there
And went with Mom the happy celebration to share.
At 99, Mom was well dressed and all set
To meet the beaming newly-weds.
The lavish dinner was ready;
At the high table Mom was well seated steady.
The waiter asked around: Wine, anyone?
And Sam Gor had some, and then more some.
No thanks, not me, was my reply.
Then an empathetic Yes, yes! O mine -
It was certainly Mom,
Holding up her thumb.
She was so excited and happy
On someone's big day.
How much red wine she finally took?
About that no one heard her spoke.
It was quite late when it was over,
And we took a taxi home together.
All of a sudden, I heard songs singing!
It was Mom who was drunk, with much drinking.
We never asked her to stop -
It must be a good mood she got.
Mom kept singing all the way,
She was so merry and gay!
How did the driver feel?
I don't think I knew.
Mom might not know we were homeward bound;
Finally, we got home safe and sound.
