A Flawed Democracy

Joji Varghese Kuncheria
A Flawed Democracy

Many democracies in the world are not,
Truly democratic but a flawed democracy.
Democratic autocracy is being prevalent,
In some of the world's largest democracies.
Unfortunately, my country is described as,
An electoral autocracy by the global groups.

Though I do not agree with such a labeling,
Confidence in this system has now become,
Like ‘a foot out of joint' to one's disgrace.
Take away the corrupt from the government,
And the country will be established back,
In righteousness, in peace and prosperity.

Having lost the enduring appeal of the elite,
'The world's largest democracy', an epithet,
Often of scorn, has lost its cherished values.
The media,  trying at best to revive,  the old,
Democratic standards, is often challenged.
Helplessly we shout: help our nation God!
