A Cursed Comet Poem by Sachidananda Panda

A Cursed Comet

A cursed comet

"Let me try! " not once but many times before, I asked
I know the limitations, I shoulder being human,
Paths that are left behind and that stretches ahead,
Are littered with thorns and blocks merciless,
As I pull out one, the other finds its way to my feet,
Bleeding all along, am' learning still, to bear the bite,

Don't you think? it was too early to part our ways
Would you say, too little was there left to celebrate
Maybe they liked us to live and toe their way
You may say, too obstinate was I to pass by a neigh
Thy leisurely woven dreams were too tall to reach,
Maybe too poor was I to restore the crumbling mint

But still, I keep moving, past night, hoping for a dawn
To assuage the anguish, a touch of grace, all I need
Myriad blocks of bygone days are buoyant though
Companion or no companion, I strive to be in the show
I wouldn't give up my dreams, though they seem so far,
For I believe in the guts of my heart, stubborn to the core

I will bounce back to life, with failures as arsenals sharp
Am a seeker of the Truth, the ultimate spark
Pain is temporary, I know! pleasures demand a price
The world is replete with conflict of interests
With You or without, destiny has its way
The Goal is fixed, and the path per-ordained

Maybe we met only to part our ways, as desired
Maybe a cursed comet was I, in thy fateful sky
Maybe I searched for a niche in thy horizon of dreams
Perhaps! in the naivety of hope I failed to beware
It was a madness to dance on edges, fates cruel design.
